The Winecoff Hotel was built in 1913 and located on the 100 block of Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta. The hotel burned in a fire in 1946 that killed 119 people. The fire prompted immediate changes to building and fire codes. The building re-opened in the 1950's as the Peachtree On Peachtree Hotel. In 2007 the building was reopened as the Hotel Ellis. - Local Identifier:
