James Warren English (1837-1925) was born in Louisiana and moved to Atlanta, Georgia after the Civil War. On December 1, 1880 he defeated H. I. Kimball to become mayor. He served as president of the American Trust and Banking Company and also for twenty-four years on the board of directors of the Central of Georgia Railway Company. Judge William T. Newman (1843-1920) was a Confederate war hero and a U.S. District Judge from Atlanta, Georgia. He married Fanny Percy Alexander, a direct descendant of the founder of Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the son of Henry Baker Newman of Tennessee. Biographical information about Col. Robert J. Lowry has not been determined. - Local Identifier:
