James Warren English (1837-1925) was born in Louisiana and moved to Atlanta, Georgia after the Civil War. On December 1, 1880 he defeated H. I. Kimball to become mayor. He served as president of the American Trust and Banking Company and also for twenty-four years on the board of directors of the Central of Georgia Railway Company. - Local Identifier:
