C. N. J. Cole, a private in the Flint Hill Greys, was from Gwinnett County, Georgia, and served in the Army of Northern Virginia and the 16th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry. Cole was captured at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. He died of smallpox in the military prison at Fort Delaware in 1863. - Local Identifier:
