One of the first four Atlanta Public Schools to open, Crew Street School opened Feb. 14, 1872. It had 429 students enrolled the first day, out of 2000 for the whole city, and was already overcrowded when it opened. It was located between Washington Street and Capital Avenue. - Local Identifier:
