Franklin M.Garrett (1906-2000) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but moved to Atlanta, Georgia as a young boy where he attended Boys High School. Garrett joined the Atlanta Historical Society in 1927, which is today the Atlanta History Center. Garrett was the only official historian for the city of Atlanta and his works, Atlanta and Environs, remain the best reference on the history of Atlanta. - Local Identifier:
