Moreland Park Military Academy was founded by Col. Asbury F. Moreland and operated for four years, from 1886-1890, reaching its highest enrollment of 190 in 1890. The Academy was progressive, allowing girls to attend at the request of Moreland who wanted his daughters to attend the school. It was restructured in 1891 as the Georgia Military Institute, becoming the Georgia Military Academy later, and then Woodward Academy. - Local Identifier:
