The Chickasaw Shipbuilding and Car Company was founded on August 17, 1917 in Chickasaw, Alabama to produce ships. Steel was provided from the Fairfield, Alabama site of Tennessee Coal and Iron. Three companies made up the infrastructure: Chickasaw Utilities Company, the Chickasaw Land Company, and Chickasaw Shipbuilding and Car Company. - Local Identifier:
