Alfred Holt Colquitt (1824-1894) was a Georgia lawyer and was eleced to the State Senate in 1859. He fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War and was promoted to Brigadier-General. His command fought in the battles of Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville. He was elected governor of Georgia in 1876 and elected to the United States Senate in 1883 and again in 1888. - Local Identifier:
