The Rotary Club of Atlanta was founded in 1913 by businessmen Ivan Allen, Sr., Howard Geldert, Evelyn Harris, and Henry Grady. Originally conceived as an organization to promote members' businesses, the Rotary Club of Atlanta, following the Rotary International Convention of 1913, adopted the motto and philosophy of "Service Above Self," and became active in charitable, community, and civic causes in Atlanta. - Local Identifier:
