Hardy Ivy, originally from South Carolina, moved to the area now known as Atlanta, Georgia, in or around 1833. He and his wife, Sarah Todd Ivy, are believed to be the first permanent settlers of European descent in Atlanta. Hardy Ivy Park in downtown Atlanta is named for him. - Local Identifier:
