E. Rivers is one of Atlanta’s oldest public schools, opening in 1917 as a two-story schoolhouse. It was originally called Peachtree Heights School, but was renamed in 1926 for Atlanta developer Eretus Rivers who donated the land for its use. In 1948 the original stone structure burned to the ground. The new structure opened in 1950 and was designed by the architectural firm Stevens and Wilkinson. - Local Identifier:
