- As soon at the necessary fictures can be completed, the above building recently acquired, now known as the Empire Building, will be occupied by the Atlanta Trust Company, at which time the name will be changed to Atlanta Trust Company Building.

The Empire Building was constructed in 1901 by architects Bruce and Morgan. The building was the first steel framed structure built in Atlanta. In 1929 the building became the headquarters for the Citizens and Southern National Bank who asked Architect Philip Shutze to redesign the first three floors. In 1991 Citizens and Southern Bank merged with North Carolina National Bank and became NationsBank which still maintains its headquarters in this building. - Local Identifier:
