The Lucy Cobb Institute was a girls' school in Athens, Georgia. It was founded by Thomas R.R. Cobb who named the school in honor of his daughter, who had died shortly before the school opened in 1859. The school closed in 1931, and the main building was taken over by the University of Georgia and used as the woman’s dormitory. The site is now home to the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. - Local Identifier:
