The Atlanta Race Massacre of 1906 took place from September 22 to September 26, 1906 when Atlanta newspapers reported four alleged assaults on local white women. Soon white men gathered in the Five Points area in downtown Atlanta and turned violent. An estimated 25 to 40 African-Americans were killed along with two confirmed white Americans. - Local Identifier:
