The Elsas, May and Company was founded in 1872 on the site of the former Atlanta Slave Market House. By 1881 the name had been changed to the Fulton Cotton Spinning Company and was expanded to the south side of the Georgia Railroad line. In 1889 the name was changed again to the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill Company. The mill remained in operation until 1978. In 1997 the building was redeveloped as a mixed-income community of 182 loft apartments. - Local Identifier:
