In 1905, Dr. Ludwig Amster and Dr. Floyd W. McRae were granted a charter for the establishment of the Piedmont Sanatorium, which was originally located in a two-story brick residence on Capitol Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1925, the Board of Trustees changed the name of the ever-expanding private infirmary to Piedmont Hospital. In 1940, the hospital was granted a new charter authorizing it to operate as a non-profit organization. In 1954, construction began on a new hospital facility on the former property of the Spalding family on Peachtree Road at Collier Road. This site’s original building was completed in 1957; however, the facility has undergone numerous expansions since that time. - Local Identifier:
