Wilbur G. Kurtz, Sr. (1882-1967) was an Atlanta historian and commercial artist. Kurtz wrote numerous articles, particularly about the Civil War, for the Atlanta Constitution and the Atlanta Journal newspapers. He worked as the technical advisor for the MGM production of “Gone With the Wind” and the Walt Disney production of “The Great Locomotive Chase.” From 1934 to 1935, Kurtz supervised the restoration of the Cyclorama of the Battle of Atlanta at Grant Park. From 1948 to 1949, he served as a consultant for the establishment of the Little White House Memorial to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Warm Springs, Georgia. Kurtz was also a member of the Atlanta Historical Society and the Atlanta Civil War Roundtable. - Local Identifier:
