Governor Zell Miller was asked by Dr.Lyn Walker to come address the
Piedmont Leadership Forum during the Fall of 94. To the students
benefit the governor came. The governor started with positive words to
the students about their educational future. He then opened the floor
to questions from the students. The governor was most friendly in
answering any questions the students had. This was an event that
Piedmont students will remember for years to come.

Gov. Miller takes a minute after his address to talk with Allan Schoi

De

Students,

The theme of this year's Yonahian, "A Year of New Beginnings'" could not be
more apt. A new graduate program. A new record enrollment. A new distance
learning facility. Anew theatre arts major. Anew freshman class-more talented
and accomplished than ever before.

For the t l.iss oi I995i the yeai is one i>t both endings and beginnings. 1 he end

schooling. The impending beginning i lommencemeni oi .1 new post colle

The e Lis** of 1 l )')S will always hold .1 special place in my heart. You were the
first freshman class to arrive during mj huh- .is president. You kept the faith
while we went through so man) changes, 10 much growth. You led Piedmont

A Year of New Beginnings

Who would have thought that Piedmont College was up to
"New Beginnings?" Well, we arc!! As always, New Beginnings
start at the top with the increase or faculty and start. The most
shocking new thing on campus was the new food service provided
by Morrison s. Along with these new items at PC. we have new
friendships developing. Also the rowing team became the newest
member of the sport family introduced to Piedmont College this
year. And List by not least, the presence of male cheerleaders.

We hope that this vcar of "New Beginnings has provided each
member of the faculty, staff, and student bodv with a positive
outlook tor Piedmont College S future.

Friendship at Piedmont

Friendship plays an important role in the purpose tor com-
ing to college. Many students may reel a little apprehensive
about meeting new friends but just ask any upperclassman here
at dear old Piedmont and they will tell you just how easy it
is to make friends at college. This is where lifetime
frienships start from the ole' chum to the most cherished
spouse. Once here you will soon discover that friendship is
the acceptance of people for exactly who they are not what
they could become.

This year like so many in the past has created an abundance
of friendships. Just flip the pages of this yearbook and sec
for yourself.

Homecoming

Homecoming

Homecoming '94 was a time of reunion, fun, and
memory making. The students started the festivities off
with a dance where incredible music was performed by
the band "The Grateful Dread." They were Jammin'
Man. The night of dancing and fun was capped off with
the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen,
Bucky Strickland and Wendy Dukes.

Christmas '94

Christmas at Piedmont

Christmas at Piedmont brings the campus to life. The spirit of Christ-
mas was brought to life by the annual Christmas tree lighting in Daniel
Lobby. The French Christmas Celebration also helped set the mood.
There was singing, fine french food, and for entertainment a play entitled
"The Bald Soprano", which was hilarious. Toy's for Tot's was also a great
success this year. And the Piedmont Choral brought in record breaking
numbers at their concert.

We all can agree that Piedmont
College has a beautiful cam-
pus that we all love. But it is the
colorful people that make this
campus such a fun place to be.
With small student teacher
ratios Piedmont's Faculty and
Statt can give each and every
student the attention they de-
serve. There may be times that
a student may become frus-
trated with a professor but, one
can be assured that the profes-
sors at Piedmont are looking
out for the well being of all
students. 1 hank you Piedmont
Faculty and Staff for being loyal
to your students.

Piedmont Lion's

Leads a very succesful year.

Coach Todd Brooks had dual
responsibilities as athletic di-
rector and head coach of the
men's basketball team. Al-
though it was Coach Brooks
second year as head coach he
knew it would be a very im-
portant year to the 1994-95 Li-
ons. It was the first team en-
tirely composed of student/
athletes he and his coaching
staff recruited. "Havingateam
made up of players we have
recruited is much more impor-
tant than most people can
imagine,"he said. "Each of the
young men that are currently
in our program have displayed
an understanding of, and an
appreciation for, the same phi-
losophy and values that the
coaching staff adhere to.'.

Even though the Lion's fin-
ished the 1993-94 campaign
with a 3-29 record Coach
Brooks, his staff, and the play-
ers went into the season very
optimistic. That very optimism
payed off with a 15-19 ending
record. The Lion's pounced
back with freshman James Rob-
erts leading in points. Jarvis
Townes was selected "Fresh-
man of the Year", in G.A.C. "
Coach Brooks 'philosophy
about recruiting quality young
men certainly paid off in 94-95.
Thanks to the coaching staff
and the team for a very good
year. We're looking forward to
another excellent year.

Tammy Miles, Shashonna

Dione Eady. Grant led the team
at #1 singles and doubles.
Deweese played the #2 singles
and teamed with Grant at the
#1 doubles position.

Jenny Bender, a freshman from
Arcadia, California and the sea-
sons most valuable player, was

only her losses to Shorter and

#4 position in singles and #2

they posted an 1 1 and 7 record

The Lady Lion Soccer Team
followed an unbelievable sea-

sophmore year that saw them
finish with a -12-6-2 record.* In

First Ever Co-Ed Squad

Piedmont College's Cheerleading has come a long way over the years. Cheerleading has
been predominately all female in our region of the country for quite some time. However
under the sponsorship of Carol Dye that has now changed. Carol started the year out with
an all female squad. Then one day Andy Witt and Spencer Wright decided that they would

ask Carol if they could try out. To their surprise she put them on the roster. Andy and

Spencer decided to ask two more of their friends Colin Campbell and Jason Seymour to try

out. This lead to the first ever co-ed squad on campus. The guys and girls worked great

together. They definitely livened the games with their routines.
