Roll With the Changes
1991-1992 was a year of changes at Piedmont College.
Though some of these changes were considered negative,
most students believed by the year's end that the changes
had, overall, been positive. New president John Elger and
Rev. Terry Bascom were two additions to Piedmont that
truly made a difference. The construction of the new library
added an air of excitement to the campus. Freshmen found
college life an interesting change, while upperclassmen
enjoyed life at Piedmont while working toward their diplo-
mas.
By the end of the 1 99 1 - 1 992 school year, most Piedmont
students had learned to roll with the changes and to accept
the bad along with the good. They also realized that as
time passes, these changes will better prepare them to roll
into the outside world.

Student Center
The student center
was always a popular
hangout with Pied-
mont students. Aside
from a large screen TV
and VCR, there were
many activities to en-
gage in. Students
could always be found
playing cards and
board games. Pool,
ping pong, and air
hockey were also pop-
ular activities. Patti
Dixon and Jean Cap-
po, along with student
center workers John
Covington, Todd Gant,
Teresa Wood, Jason
Stephens, John Cas-
tleberry, Jennifer Mil-
stead, Mark McCoy,
and Delaine Irvin
helped to keep the
student center clean
and orderly.

Dorm Life
There was always plenty of activity at Pied-
mont's dorms. Whether baking cookies or
having an all-night study session, the girl's
dorm was always busy. Late night pranks and
water fights were always popular. Resident
director Christina Garmon and assistants Da-
nette Bowers, Dackri Davis, Amber Bay, and
Teresa Wood kept things from getting out of
hand. At Pureed Hall, a game of baseball or
basketball in the hall or lobby was always a
fun activity. Director Lewis Lindsay and as-
sistants Shannon Floyd, Raymond Kent, and
Doug Register officiated.

Homecoming
Dance
The room was full of peach
and baby blue balloons, the food
was the highlight of the eve-
ning, and Rob Moore was giving
everyone "red eye." What was
this big event? It was the 1991-
1992 Homecoming Dance! Was
it worth all the helium used to
blow up the balloons? If you
were there you can decide for
yourself.
Brian Turner sings?? to Melissa Walls.
Friends at Piedmont
Friends have always been an important part
of life at Piedmont. Piedmont students quick-
ly form close friendships that are long-last-
ing. Whenever you are down or bored, all you
have to do is pick up the phone and call a
friend. There is no doubt that students rec-
ognize the value of a true friend and work
hard at making new friends all the time.

Holidays at
Piedmont
Though most students were not to-
gether on holidays, many choosing to go
home to their families, Piedmont always
managed to celebrate one way or an-
other. The girl's dorm sponsored a Hal-
loween party, while a Christmas Dance
was held at the Student Center. There
was also a Valentine's Dance that eve-
ryone enjoyed. Even though Piedmont
students were often glad to go home on
holidays, they were always glad to come
back to school again.

Valentine's Dance
The Valentine's Dance was held in the student center. The
room was decorated with red hearts, the lights were low. the
atmosphere was very intimate, and Leann Bagwell looked
like a millon. Everyone knew that night was one to remember.
Working
There are a wide array of jobs available on
Piedmont's campus. Many students worked
in offices on campus, while others worked in
the student center. Other jobs include library
work, maintenance, nightwatchmen, and tu-
toring. Work study was a good way to earn
some extra money without leaving campus.

Keeping Fit
One only needs to say one thing when talk-
ing about keeping fit: Dr. Goodbody's. Of
course there are other things to do at Pied-
mont like playing table tennis, playing pool,
or walking, but nothing compares to the Doc-
tor.
The Doctor had racquetball, aerobics,
weight-lifting, exercise machines, a sauna,
and a whirlpool. At Dr. Goodbody's you can
work up a sweat and then relax in the warmth
of the soothing whirlpool.

Spring Formal '92
The 1992 Spring Formal was held at the Cornelia Com-
munity House on April 4th. Before the dance started many
students went to Gainsville to eat at such restaurants as
Knickers, Peeches, and Poor Richards. The dance itself was
full of beautiful people in beautiful clothes. The night was
complete when everyone danced to Queens "Bohemian
Rhapsody."

Studying
It's a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining; the birds
are singing. There isn't a cloud in the sky. Where can Pied-
mont students be found?? Studying, of course! Like the dil-
igent students we are at Piedmont, we would never let a
game of volleyball interfere with our homework.

Between Classes
There are many things for students to do between classes.
If you only had a quick break, conversing in the halls or lobby
was popular. For those with a longer break, playing cards or
pool in the student center, eating in the Snack Shack, taking
a quick nap, or even studying outside was good ways to pass
that time.
Campus Coffeehouse
The fourth bi-annual campus coffeehouse took place in the
Cafeteria in February of this year. Winners were announced
in three different categories: musical performance, lip-synch,
and skits. The winner in the musical performance category
was Chris Altman. In the lip-synch competition, Tammy, Pat,
and Christy won. Daren King, Rene van Weenen, Ray Kelly,
Tom Wyatt, and Scott Wierson won for best skit. The con-
solation prize drawing was won by James Rider, Nikki Woo-
ten, and Jennifer Owens, Judges for the event were Kathy

Dedication
The staff of the 1991-1992 Yonahian would
like to dedicate this book to Mrs. Patti Dixon.
Patti has been an invaluable help to an in-
experienced staff in getting this book start-
ed.
Patti has always gone out of her way to
plan activities that all Piedmont students will
enjoy. She can frequently be seen up on lad-
ders decorating for dances; then, the next
day, she will be moving furniture and cleaning
up. Her time and effort in planning activities
are more than appreciated. We would like to
show our gratitude by dedicating this edition
of the Yonahian to Patti.

Lions Basketball
The 1991-92 men's basketball team had a rough season
to begin with this year but they came out on top of things.
The Lions were also able to go to conference this yer and
they played some aggressive basketball. The Lions finished
the season ranking fifth in the NAIA District 24, Division II
with a 11-21 overall record and a 7-8 conference record. The
team had several new players who added a great deal to the
team. The entire team pulled together and won a tremendous
victory. The Lions beat their record last year and continue
to improve. Coach Maxie Skinner was happy with the overall
performance of the team. "This has been a real good year
for the men's basketball team. We started winning when we
hit the conference schedule and we wound up 7-8 in the
conference, placing fifth." So Piedmont fans come support
the Piedmont College Lions next year in another exciting
season. Congratulations to the Lions and thanks to all their
supporters.

Lady Lions
The Piedmont Lady Lions had a changing
and successful year. Coach Beth Ralph took
over the Lady Lions in August. This was a
new and learning experience for both coach
and team. The team and the coach's hard
work and determination to win paid off. The
Lady Lions made it to the conference games
which they barely missed last year. The Lady
Lions finished the season by ranking 7th in
the NAIA District 24 Div. II, with a 15-13 over-
all record. This topped their record last year.
Coach Ralph said she was pleased with the
overall performance of the team. "We came
a long way in a short while." Coach Ralph
also has some hopes and goals for next year.
"Next year should be Piedmont's year as far
as women's basketball." Another year has
come to a close and the Lady Lions continue
to get better and better. Congratulations to
the Lady Lions and all their supporters.

Year. Jonny Jarrett was given an award for Lowest Earned

Defensive Player went to Ricky Woodruff. The Coach's award
went to Chris Altman.
Softball
The 1992 Softball team had an outstanding season, ending
the year with a 32-2 record. The team was coached by Beth
Ralph. Assistant coach was John Krippner. Leah Henderson
was team captain. She was also chosen Most Valuable Player,

bers. New uniforms, shoes,

were purchased to help boost
the success of the program. The
squad cheered at a majority of
the home men's games and
women's games. On Homecom-
ing the squad painted spirit

a success. Toward the end of
the season the squad's size be-
gan to shrink even more due to

we hope that each year the

Roll With the Changes
The 1991-92 school year at Piedmont has been full of
changes. Interim President John Elger agreed to accept the
position on a permanant basis. Rev. Terry; Bascom replaced
Stephen Nickle as campus minister. Dr. Ellen Briggs became
the new athletic director. Beth Ralph was hired as coach form
women's basketball and softball.
Around campus, the construction of the new library added
an air of excitement to the area. Also, the new athletic field
proved a much-needed improvement. Both a volleyball court
and a soccer field were added.
Students also found life after hours at Piedmont to be more
exciting. Visitation hours were extended. A program was im-
plemented in which students could get a very inexpensive
membership to Dr. Goodbody's health spa. Most importantly,
Piedmont students learned to roll with the changes taking
place and even to help them along.

Rolling On . . .
As another year ends at Piedmont, there is happiness and
sadness. We say good-bye to graduating seniors with sad-
ness, yet we look forward to the summer and to welcoming
the incoming freshmen next year. As we roll on through an-
other year, we realize that a greater challange awaits us
next year!
