Societies play an important part in the life at Piedmont. The J. S. Green Society, found-
ed by the pioneers of the college, has developed with the college and has helped deep-
en the spirit of loyalty and devotion to the faculty and administration. It has en-
deavored to create between students and the school, which will mean liberty attach-

The name, Propropian, is derived from a Greek word meaning "In the forefront." Every
member is looking forward, striving to make the organization a vital part of our
college life. This was the ideal of the charter members and so it remains today. It
lives in the heart of every Protropian.
Now with the past behind us with its victories and the future before us with its oppor-
tunities, may no loyal "Prot" rest upon his glories but with the energy and vision of
the pioneer do his utmost to bring into realization, "A Greater Piedmont" and "A
Greater Protropian Society."
