- Description:
- The Community Harvest Days collection comes from a series of community scanning events held at locations throughout Middle Georgia that seeks to assist Georgians with preserving their mementos by creating digital copies. This event series began in 2019 as part of a National Endowment for the Arts (NEH) Common Heritage Grant project but still remains an ongoing initiative of the Ina Dillard Russell Library at Georgia College. Each participant is provided with scans of items brought to Harvest Days on a flash drive that is given to them. Archivists encourage participants to follow the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keeps Stuff Safe) method of digital maintenance at home. Items in this collection have allowed Georgia College to share their materials publicly with the Digital Library of Georgia in hopes of showcasing a wider range of materials that tell the story of Middle Georgia.
