- Manuscript sermon by Robert Zenas Johnston concerning the encounter of the Old Testament prophet figure of Elijah with Ahab, king of Israel. He describes the laws and condition of the Jewish people in the Old Testament and compares this to the condition of the Christian community and the United States being rent asunder during the Civil War. This sermon was originally delivered at Tabor Presbyterian Church (Olin, N.C.), June 2, 1861. It was delivered subsequently at Back Creek Presbyterian Church (Mount Ulla, N.C.) June 10, 1861; Third Creek Presbyterian Church (Cleveland, N.C.), Fast Day sermon, June 13, 1861; Providence Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), July 14, 1861; Long Creek Presbyterian Church (Bessemer City, N.C.), Nov 30, 1861; and Sharon Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), January 12, 1862.
