This sermon was completed at Pineville (N.C.), May 1863, and initially delivered at Sharon Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), May 24, 1863 (on occasion of “Mrs. J. N. Alexander’s confs”). It was delivered multiple times thereafter: Yorksville [First Presbyterian Church (York, S.C.)], September 1863; Six Mile Creek Presbyterian Church (Lancaster County, S.C.), October 1, 1863; Providence Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), January 5, 1864; Bethlehem Presbyterian Church (Monroe, N.C.), August 7, 1864; and at First Presbyterian Church (Lincolnton, N.C.), September 1872. Includes a two-page sermon outline. Sermon on 1 Corinthians 8:31.
