- Description:
- Manuscript sermon by Robert Zenas Johnston concerning the experience and goal of prayer as the means through which God works. Johnston calls his audience to pray for the success of the Confederate military, reminds them of God’s success in the past as a means for confidence, and decries multiple situations stemming from the Civil War. This sermon was delivered at Sharon Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), April 8, 1864, occasioned by the calling of the day of fasting, humiliation, and prayer by the (Confederate) president. Transcription provided by Suzanne Boliek Veazey, January 8, 2022.
