- Manuscript sermon by Robert Zenas Johnston concerning the relation of the knowledge of God and fidelity to God, with reference to the faithfulness of Jews under attack by Antiochus Epiphanes. Johnston applies this in the context of being faithful to establishing the (Confederate) government against “miserable infidelity.” This sermon was composed at “Mrs. Walker’s near Charlotte, N.C.,” August 2, 1861, and originally delivered at Sharon Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), August 4, 1861, and again at Providence Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, N.C.), August 10, 1862.
