J.] Breckinridge’s First Volume [The Knowledge of God, Objectively Considered], March 22, 1870; concerning the editing of Thornwell’s writings on repentance, May 4, 1870; discusses the contents and edits of Thornwell’s Discourses on Truth, Charleston (S.C.), June 22, 1870; concerning further edits for publishing Thornwell’s Discourses on Truth, including the verification of source citations in Jeremy Taylor and questions whether the Collected Writings should not be titled “Collected Works”, July 26, 1870; proposed contents of Volume 4 of the Collected Works, undated; proposed contents of Volume 2 of the Collected Works, undated; edits of Thornwell’s essays on Morrell’s Philosophy of Religion and Baird’s Elohim Revealed, undated; list of articles to include for Volume 4, undated; edits of [Thornwell’s review of] Breckinridge’s Knowledge of God, Objectively Considered and [Thornwell’s] Personality of God, as Affecting &c, undated; index to Volume 2, undated; annotations of select writings to appear [in Collected Writings]. Adger informing him of several lectures by Thornwell in his possession and will provide a copy of each by the next synod meeting, that his book is in press, and seeks recommendations as he hopes to get the chair of mental science and logic at Davidson College, Greensboro (Ala.), August 17, 1866. Letter from R. B. Anderson to Dr. Adger mentioning that he had communicated to Dr. Dunlap and Angus Johnson about suppling recollections about Thornwell but doubted either would, reiterates a story from Dunlap concerning an occasion of Thornwell’s preaching at Old Waxhaw, Yorkville (S.C.), June 20, 1870. Letter from John B. Adger to Rev. Dr. Palmer concerning old notes belonging to Thornwell he has found which mention Palmer favorably and strong terms concerning the Charleston Union Presbytery, Adger also requests Palmer to return the notes when finished, Columbia (S.C.), November 29, 1873.
