- Description:
- Letter from Samuel Spahr Laws to W.W. Mills concerning the actions taken by the Board of Directors for Columbia Theological Seminary regarding the mandatory retirement of Laws given that he is at least of the age of 70. Laws opens the letter mentioning his appreciation for the opportunity to educate William [Hayne Mills] the son of W.W. Mills, at Columbia Theological Seminary, and then proceeds to protest the action of the Board with an appeal to student reception and his abilities, with mention that professors such as Samuel Miller and Archibald Alexander instructed him at Princeton Seminary when over the age of 80, Columbia (S.C.), June 22, 1897. Also contains a note on the definition and evaluation of brothels as an interrelated question to polygamy and as related to the church, January 14, 1910.
