- Letters from John Leighton Wilson to James Woodrow obliging Woodrow to pay him $500 in four percent bonds ($100 bonds each) and may ask for more, discusses potential change in taxes, and mentions an article he is writing about Northern Baptists and Methodists taking possession of Southern people, Mayesville (S.C.), March 16, 1864; returning endorsed checks and makes mention of previous letter and mentions concerns about sending money to Mr. Lafferty [Mayesville (S.C.)] March 17 [1864]; hoping Woodrow has fulfilled previous payment requests, mentions that he has requested that his brother send Woodrow bacon, later amends the letter to mention that the bacon will be sent with Joseph as his brother is unable to fulfill the request, Mayesville (S.C.), March 18, 1864; discusses the food items he is preparing to send to Woodrow, mentions the scarcity of potatoes and that he has covered the extra cost of bacon, Mayesville [S.C.] January 9th 1865.
