- Description:
- Manuscript sermon written by John N. Waddel, date and place of origin unknown. In this sermon Waddel posits that Paul's preaching style, based on the idea that the atonement of Christ for our sins is the grand central truth of the gospel, is the best and most successful style. He begins by describing the ancient, sensual city of Corinth where, against all odds, Paul established a flourishing church. He then gives the example of the Moravian missions to Greenland which succeeds in a similar fashion. Finally, he enumerates the central truths of this story which make it so effective: that man is a sinner, as such he is condemned to everlasting death, and that the sinner may be saved from that penalty of law. Sermon on 1 Corinthians 2:2.
