- Description:
- Manuscript sermon of Joseph Ruggles Wilson, originally delivered at First Presbyterian Church (Wilmington, N.C.), February 9, 1879. concerning God's fatherly nature. Wilson explains how there are three types of sons: those who trust in Christ and follow him, those who trust themselves and follow the Pharisees, and those who trust themselves and follow the devil. He goes on to show how God is both a father and a ruler and, as such, demands obedience. He explains how we must cultivate ourselves to be a habitable abode for the divine and shows the consequences for those who do not. Sermon on Matthew 21:28.
