- Letters from Thomas Smyth to James Henley Thornwell informing him that he has sent Thornwell copies of his Resolutions to Synod as well as 50 copies of his writing on Confirmation to distribute at the [57th (Old School)] General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Cincinnati, Charleston (S.C.), May 10, 1845; informing him of his approval that Thornwell has taken on the subject of the seminary and that such should be done for the [Oglethorpe] college in Georgia as well, Charleston (S.C.), December 24, 1845; requesting that Thornwell read a letter from Wm. Cash and provide a testimonial, also provides details about preparations for the [64th (Old School)] General Assembly in Charleston, Charleston (S.C.), May 9, 1852.
