Reports on the Charleston Assembly's decision to adopt a paper by the Baltimore Assembly, which states that evolution is "contrary to the word of God as interpreted in the Standards of the Church, and forbids the public contending". It recounts members of the Presbytery's protest of the prohibition against public contending, and the Assembly's counter to their protest. The author of the article sides with the members who protest the prohibition of public contending on the subject of evolution. The author transcribes a portion of an examination given to new members of the Charleston Presbytery, including Rev. Prof. William Flinn, on the subject of evolution.
