- Description:
- The newly built Manchester Elementary School opened in the fall of 1951. The document describes the new modern building in detail. The principal received a private office, teachers received a "post office", the entire building has a heating system and each classroom has venetian blinds. The old playground equipment was moved to the new facility and several new pieces of equipment were added. At the high school, the floors were cleaned and refinished, the doors received new locks, the office and teachers' lounge were redecorated and electric clocks were added. Students received a number of new desks as did several teachers. Several new typewriters were added, one of which was electric. A new, modern cafeteria was opened at the high school in January of 1952. The fence was replaced around the athletic field. Bleachers and dugouts were added and the wiring was replaced. New programs and activities were added at the elementary school as well.
