Letter to Martha Berry from William G. McAdoo

The Secretary of the Treasury
Washington

March 11, 1918

My dear Miss Berry:

I have your letter of the 21st of February, which has just come to my attention owing to the extreme pressure of other matters. I note what you say about losing your teacher, Mr. S. H. Cook, through his being placed in Class 1 (A) of the draft. I do not know that I can be of any assistance to you, but have taken pleasure in referring your letter to the Secretary of War. I hope that some way may be found by which Mr. Cook may remain with the Berry Schools, as it is needless for me to assure you of the interest I have always had in the good work you are doing in the Georgia mountains.

With kindest regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

W G McAdoo

Miss Martha Berry,
Director, The Berry Schools
Mount Berry, Georgia.
