PARENTS-TEACHERS CLUB
For the most effective development of students there must be close cooperation be-
tween home and school. Parents must understand what the school is endeavoring to do,
while teachers must try to understand the problems of parents.
To bring about this understanding and cooperation is one of the aims of Dudley M.
Hughes High School Parents-Teachers Club.
To further the cause for education is the chief purpose of our Parents-Teachers Club,
an organization where parents and teachers are working together for us.

Our Band
That Happy Day!
Stomecoming _.. Was Successful
We had our second annual Home-
coming, Thursday, October 27,
1960. We celebrated with a parade,
Bar-B-Cue and dance.
The parade consisted of the
school band, majorettes, and floats
and cars from each grade level
The ninth grade float won first
place for the best float and re-
ceived a prize of $15.00. The senior
class won second place and re
ceived a $10.00 prize. The eleventh
was third and received $5.00. For
the cars, F.B.L.A. came first, eighth
grade homeroom 213 came second,
and Bobbie Blount received honor-
able mention.
A Bar-B-Cue supper was held in
the school auditorium from 5:30
to 7:30 P. M. Everyone was invited.
Following the Bar-B-Cue was a
dance held in the school gym from
8:00 to 11:00 P.M. The new 1960-
1961 Homecoming Queen was
crowned. The lovely Connie Fillin-
gim was crowned queen by Patsy
Bruce, last years Homecoming
Queen. Sara Stewart was first run-
ner-up.
Why work when you can dance?

Farewell
As we pass slowly out of these doors that have seen so many come and go, all
too quickly we hear the doors of the years past, quickly shutting behind us; and we
go forth eagerly to open the doors to the future and whatever it may bring.
For when one door is shutanother opens.
