PRACTICE MAKES
PERFECT! This year
the varsity boys really
pumped it up on the
baseball diamond! Not
only was practice very
strenuous but the up-
coming competition
was also tough. Prac-
ticing at Morgan Field,
the Cavaliers cracked,
hit, and slid their way
through an impressive
season.
THE DRIVING FORCE
Chester Pierce was the
varsity boys baseball
coach this season. He
did a great job getting
them ready and push-
ing them along
throughout the sea-
son. In good times and
in the worst times, he
was always there, be-
ing the constant, force-
ful leader that he really
is.
SEASON SWEEP! The
boys had a very im-
pressive season this
year. They made it all
the way to the region
tournament and won
second place, finally
advancing to the State
Semi-Finals. With this
record and a lot of
hard work on their
side, MDS should be
proud of another show
of Cavalier class.

It began in the frigid

was Over and condi-

long distance run-

sprints,and weights. It
was tough and put our
girls into shape.
REWARDIND RECORD
All of the strenuous
workouts proved to be
rewarding when the
Lady Cavs set a new
school record. This
year we had more wins
than ever and tied our
previous shut-out rec-

battle to win but also to
improve. The road to
the state champion-

COACHES CONTRIBU-

Homecoming is the first

classes bond together in
the competitions. Each
grade is given points for
class participation in each
activity and for winning
certain competitions. The
Seniors won this year as
they do most years. But
each grade comes closer
to each other while work-

Presentations
In honor of Black His-

one act play,A Woman
Called Truth. The play,
Starring junior Monica
McMillan, chronicles
the life of Sojourner
Truth, an ex-slave who
fights for the freedom
of her child, her free-
dom and equal rights
for blacks and women.
Though the play was
separate from the
other Black History
events, it expressed
the same idea with
amazing clarity
through the interpreta-
tions of the cast. The
cast consisted of only
six members who had
various parts to play.
No matter what, the
Troubadors give a
great performance and
the audience leaves
with a smile and an in-
explicable feeling. The
actor's life is one of
long practices and
emotion but in the
end, the product is awe
inspiring.

FUN. From the spa-

one. Each event holds
its own unique charm.
For the athletes in each

Dress-a-Boy/Dress-a-

great way to get in
touch with the mascu-

your personality. The
over and under Egg re-

are not athletically

of lung capacity. At the
end of the night, when
everyone is partied

nervous jitters back-

play. When the curtain
opened, and the music
started, the cast tried
their best to take the
audience to a beautiful
far away island.
Through singing and
dancing, they showed
the people a world of
different social classes,
and a forbidden love
affair. The quick dress
changes and stage en-
trances were just part
of performing. Team
work became an es-

as was the case of Kelly
Dessart and John

all was finished, and
the cast took their final
bows,a great sense of
pride and satisfaction
showed on their faces.

core group of Juniors
showed up almost ev-

storming and painting,
students spent hours
on end trying to make
the evening perfect for
the Seniors. One of the
most time consuming
jobs was the sun which

Nothing is quite like the
friendships you make
during high school, and
nothing can replace the
experiences and laughter
you share with good
friends. Amigoes, amis,
compadres, copains, pals
whatever you want to call
them, there is no word
that really expresses how
you feel about your clos-
est friends. The times, ex-
periences, laughter,
closeness, and love you
share with classmates will
always be precious to
you. They cheer you up
when you're feeling
down, give you free ad-
vice whenever you need it
and sometimes when you
don't. Friends, like Shell
Kurzen and David Grin-
stead, will always be
there for each other. Life
seems much easier and
days go by much more
quickly when you share a
smile or good joke with a
special friend.

As the year draws to a
close, the atmosphere
is filled with emotions.
While everyone is ex-
cited to have three
months of freedom,
there is a sadness lin-

many memories.
Tears, victories and

walls. We say good-bye

the loves lost and
found during the year.

Dont Look Back
As you travel through life there are always those times when decisions just have to be made...
...When the choices are hard, and solutions seem scarce...
..and the rain seems to soak your parade!
There are some situations where all you can do is to simply let go and move on...
... gather courage together and choose a direction that carries you toward a new dawn.
So pack up your troubles and take a step forward - the process of change can be tough...
...but think about all the excitement ahead if you can be stalwart enough!
There could be adventures you never imagined just waiting around the next bend...
_..and wishes and dreams just about to come true in ways you cant yet comprehend!
Perhaps you'll find friendships that spring from new interests as you challenge your status quo...
_..and learn there are so many options in life, and so many ways you can grow!
Perhaps you'll go places you never expected and see things that you've never seen...
...or travel to fabulous, faraway worlds and wonderful spots in between!
Perhaps you'll find warmth and affection and caring - a somebody special whos there...
...to help you stay centered and listen with interest to stories and feelings you share.
Perhaps you'll find comfort in knowing your friends are supportive of all that you do...
_..and believe that whatever decisions you make, they'll be the right choices for you!
So keep putting one foot in front of the other...
..and taking your life day by day.
Theres a brighter tomorrow thats just down the road.
Dont look back - youre not going that way!
Have a wonderful life Cory!

For the Good Times
Along with the end of
every school year comes
many mixed emotions.
rhe prevailing feeling is
always one of relief that
the long hours of studying
for tests and writing term
papers are over--at least
for the time being. A
nostalgic sentiment is felt
by students when looking
upon all of the good times
of the past year and a
feeling of regret is held for
what might have been.

Nostalgia Prevails
Although most people
dont like to admit that
they like going to school,
the summer months make
many people aware of
how special Mount de
Sales is. Not only do we
receive an outstanding
academic education, but
we learn life lessons as
well. All of the rules and
regulations that some-
times seem so confining
are actually here for a
reason. Here we learn
how to deal with authority

and how to choose what is
really important to us. We

as there are problems in

exception, but no place
can be perfect. Enjoy your
