- Description:
- The wording of the deed made by Mr. William H. Jackson is inscribed in a stone, erected by the City of Athens, under the tree. For and in consideration of the great desire I have for its protection all time, I convey entire possession of itself and all land within eight feet of the tree on all sides. This tree is a beautiful water oak, is over 350 years old. The deed was made by Mr. Jackson in 1820.
