- Description:
- Fort Pulaski stands at the east end of Cockspur Island. The White lighthouse in the middle foreground was built in 1840 to mark the dangerous shoal nearby. In the background is Tybee Island where the Federal troops set up gun batteries to bombard the fort. Fort Screven and Tybee Lighthouse visible on Tybee Island, later replaced the Pulaski fortifications.
