- Sixteen miles east of Atlanta, Stone Mountain, reputed to be the largest solid body of exposed granite in the world, rises 800 feet above the plain. It is seen miles around its base and upon its sheer side a great Confederate Memorial is being carved in the solid rock. It is the eighth wonder of the world.
