- Description:
- Vanishing Georgia Mobile Photo Lab on a trip to the Lowndes County Historical Society and Museum.
During the Vanishing Georgia project, archivists travelled around Georgia in a mobile photo lab from 1975 through 1986 to make copy negatives of historic photographs owned by citizens across the state. Archivists recorded information about the topics and dates of the pictures while the negatives were made. The owners kept the original photographs and in this manner 18,000 historic photographs were preserved. The negatives were later scanned and indexed and put online in the Digital Library of Georgia. - Metadata URL:
