Georgia voters approved a constitutional amendment to establish a Court of Appeals on October 3rd, 1906. Benjamin H. Hill, Richard B. Russell and Arthur G. Powell were elected judges in a statewide referendum on November 6th, and the court was organized in Atlanta on January 2nd, 1907. These are the minutes of the first session of the Georgia Court of Appeals, including the oaths of office of officers of the court, and listing the one hundred fifty-five civil cases transferred from the Georgia Supreme Court to the new Court. The minutes also include the dissent of Judge Powell to the appointment Marion Bloodworth as a stenographer on the grounds that females are ineligible for civil office.
