On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Freddie Lee Brinson, revered
family patriarch, was quietly called by God, who summoned him
to come unto him and rest. As the adored and respected
patriarch of a large, close family, he will be sorely missed, but he
will live on in the legacy of strong values and unconditional love
and support he personified.
Freddie was born on August 31,1937, to the late Maudie
(Mainer) and Ned Brinson, Sr., in Evans County, Georgia. He
attended the public schools of Evans County, where he excelled
as a student. He was the Valedictorian of Evans County High
School graduating class of 1957, where he received many
honors. During his entire high school career he received a grade
of 100/A in every class with the exception of one class where he
received a score of 98, thereby setting an academic record at
Evans County High School, that stood the test of time until the
school closed its doors in 1971. He was also member of the
Future Farmers of America. In 1957 he won the FFA state
championship and placed 3'^' in the National FFA championship.
He was also a member the 1957 runner-up state championship
high school football team of Evans County High School. He was
drafted into the Army, where he served his country for two years
and was honorably discharged. Freddie's tenacity and
dedication continued in his spiritual life as well. He joined Hagan
Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at a young age where he
served as a faithful steward and also held the position of
Chairman of the Financial Committee.
After completing his military service he returned home where
he had a long, successful career working for Claxton Wholesale
as a driver; a technician at Union Camp (International
Paper) for over ten years and as a construction worker until
his health declined. Freddie was a man of strong faith and
attended church every Sunday, his health permitting. He
was the type of man who never met a stranger.
He was very knowledgeable and could talk to anyone and
everyone about any topic. He had a great sense of humor
and was known for a good joke; loved his sports and never
went anywhere without his cap.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ned Brinson
Jr., Ed (Booster) Brinson, Robert (Bob) Brinson and three
sisters; Ida Mae Moody, Nola Mae Smith and Sylvia (Lena)
Brinson-Roberson.
Cherishing his memory are his daughters: Mary Esther
Keeby of Claxton, GA, Annette McCoy (Billie) and Donna
(Jerrelle) Patrick of Savannah, GA; sons Michael Branch
(Monica) of Statesboro, GA and Rafaki Gardner of Atlanta,
GA, two sisters, Emma Davis (Andrew) of Miami, FL, Sadie
Brooks (Bobby) of Atlanta, GA. A host of grandchildren,
great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Special friend Ms. Rosetta Burroughs.

Final Glance
Recessional
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free!
Miss me a little - but not for long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this journey that we all must take
And each must go alone;
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me, but let me go.
