OBITUARY
Miss Rosetta Jones, the daughter of the late Dea. Ruben
and Mary Jones was born January 14, 1885 in the Mt.
Pleasant Community, Tattnall County now Evans County,
Georgia. She departed this life Saturday morning, Jan. 12,
1980 at 3:25 a.m. in Savannah, Georgia.
At an early age she joined the Mt. Pleasant Missionary
Baptist Church. Until recent years she was an ardent worker
in many departments of the church. She served as Treasurer,
Teacher and Secretary of the Sunday School. She was also
active in the Tattnall Missionary Baptist Association. She was
a member of the NAACP.
She was a graduate of Georgia State College (Savannah
State College). She taught in the school systems of Tattnall
and Evans counties and at Paris Island, S. C., for many years.
She was recognized as Evans County High School Teacher of
the Year. She retired through the State Department of
Education June 1968. She was a member of the Georgia
Retired Teachers Assn.
During Miss Jones lifetime she reared many nieces and
nephews.
She leaves to mourn her passing three devoted nieces,
Mrs. Bertha Brown, Mrs. Thelma Alexander of Savannah,
Georgia and Mrs. Myrtle Brinson, Tampa, Fla.; also many
other nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and
friends.
