Mr. William Melvin was born March 21, 1950 in Statesboro, Georgia to the
late Mr. Sam and Mrs. Daisy Melvin, both of whom preceded him in death.
He had three brothers, Sammy Melvin, Donell Melvin and Sylvester Melvin
all of whom also preceded him in death. He graduated high school from the
Evans County School System.
William was very active in the local community. He always worked tirelessly
to help youth make the right decision as well as some adults. He was a foster
parent for a number of years. William worked as a Paramedic with Evans
Memorial Hospital for 12 years before leaving to work for the Department
of Juvenile Justice at the Regional Youth Development Center. After working
at the RYDC he later became a Probation Officer, which is where he later
retired. After retirement he continued to be active in the community. He
helped out at the Evans County Sheriff Department as a Bailiff and also a
Jailer.
William is survived by a very loving and devoted wife, Emma Lee Melvin for 42
years. He leaves to cherish his memories to six devoted children, three daugh-
ters: Katina Crosby (Greg) of Columbia, SC, Kanasia Melvin of Bellville, GA,
Ayanna Doyle (Tommie) of Claxton, GA and also like a Daughter, Roxanne
Mckever. Three sons: William O. Melvin (Twilia) of Savannah, GA, Quincy
T. Melvin ( Natasha Mitchell ) of Pooler, GA, Brian K. Melvin of Claxton
