A Parting Slance
Those we love don't go away.
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near.
Always loved, always missed,
and always very dear.

Obituarg
Hubert Lanier Mikel was bom August 14,1924 in
Evans County, Georgia to Gertrude Mikel and
Horace Johnson.
Hubert's education was not traditional because he
attended public school, but left school to work in
the shipyards in Savannah, Georgia. Hubert was
drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of eighteen in
1944. After his discharge as a technical corporal,
he came back home and finished his high school
education. He was bom and raised in Claxton be-
fore moving to Cleveland, Ohio; where he and his
family lived for over 40 years, before moving back
to Claxton.
Hubert was a very charismatic person and people
knew him as a man of few words with a radiant
smile. Hubert leaves to cherish his memories: A
loving wife, Lucille Mikel of Claxton, Ga.; two
sons, Ronald Mikel (Bemita), of Claxton, Ga. and
Edward Brown of Claxton, Ga.; One daughter, Doris
Tomblin of Claxton, Ga.; Two Step-Children, Joyce
A. Parker (Dennis), of Michigan and Donta L. Brown
(Belinda), of Ohio. A host of grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, cousins, friends and special
neighbors, Jodi Lee and Nan Boyette.
No matter what your trials are,
or how big your mountain seems;
The Lord is there to see you through;
Hell go to all extremes.
So if your cross seems hard to bear;
and you know not what to do;
The One who loves you most of all will be there to see you
through.
