Funeral program for Mrs. Jewelene Marie Bacon-Hunter

Sunshine my Inspiration
Sunshine you have created something beautiful and new in my life that was never there
before I married you.
Sunshine with you, I have found new meaning in each moment life brought us, in all
our love and closeness, I found something within, a confidence, and strength I never
knew existed without you.
Having you to believe in and having you believe in me, has made it easier to trust and
believe in myself
Marriage to you opened up a completely new world to me, a world that filled with
growth and change and self-discovery.
Jewelene I learned so much about myself with you to show the way.
You made me realize how good it feels to give, to share, to be with you each day.
Sunshine you were indeed, my truest inspiration, and my reason for happiness these last
24 years. You are my everlasting joy, and I loved spending my life with you.
Sunshine you were the woman who is everything to me.
My best friend, my love, and my wife I will love you always.
I love you.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword? As it is written,
For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, not
anything else in all creation, will he able to separate us from the love of God in Christ JESUS our Lord.
Romans 9:35-39
Jewelene Marie Hunter was born June 10, 1961 as the fourth of nine children to the late Bernease
Brewton Bacon and Lorinza Bacon in Claxton, GA. She was from a child, very friendly and easy
going and retained many friends from her childhood through out her lifetime. Her formal education
came through the Evans County School System where she graduated an Honor student in 1979. She
united in Holy matrimony with Frank Hunter on January 20, 1990 and from that union two chil-
dren were born; Jasmine Faith and Jheryl Zachary. She was motivated to be a success and for many
years sold Avon products, later she took a course to become a licensed childcare operator in Georgia
and ran a small business that was sorely missed when she closed it. Later she became a substitute
teacher in the Evans County Schools. She loved her family, she loved a good laugh and she loved and
enjoyed a diverse circle of friends.
Jewelene accepted JESUS Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child and was very active for many
years singing with the choir and working in Youth programs at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. As a
young woman and mother, she worked on several Boards of the Church, as well as helping to shape
the young people in the Church. Her active participation waned as she and her family moved first to
Hinesville then to Midway, GA. A new chapter had begun, what to do? Her love for children was the
guide and the spur to lead her into the profession of teaching.
After several years of studying at Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA she obtained a B.S.
in Early Childhood Education in 1999. She continued her studies and on June 6, 2004 she received
a Masters Degree from Cambridge College in Boston, MA. She received many awards and certifi-
cates over the years, a most notable one was from August 2007 for Advanced Graduate Studies and
Educational Leadership. She was certified as a Master Teacher by the School Board in Liberty County
in 2010; another accomplishment. Being busy and still striving to be the best, she obtained a Masters
Degree in Business in 2012 from Strayer University in Savannah, GA. She was a much loved and gift-
ed teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Midway, GA. She taught third grade there for eight years.
She also taught in Bryan County for a year. She loved the colors of her school, gold and purple. Her
co-workers and students were much loved as well and it broke her heart not to be with them at the
start of this school year. She had plans to try and go back to teaching during this school year in early
2013 after her surgery, but GOD called and she answered Him.
Our beloved Jewelene departed this life on August 25, 2012 at Savannah Hospice among family
members in Savannah, GA. Her courageous battle was over, but her example of great faith and
endurance and strength will be remembered. Her precious memory will live on through the students
and friends and family who knew and loved her.
She leaves to mourn, her husband of 22 years Frank Hunter and her devoted children; Jasmine
(returning student at Savannah State University) and Jheryl (freshman at Coastal GA College) of
Midway, GA. Her loving father, Lorinza Bacon of Claxton, GA and eight siblings: Pearl Bacon,
JoAnn Jackson, Bernetter (Franklin) Geiger, Fay (Blake) Jones of Atlanta, GA; Lloyd (Kim) Bacon of
Athens, GA; Floyd Stanley Bacon and Robert Bacon and Penny Bacon of Claxton, GA. Mother-in-
law: Louise Hunter; and two brothers-in-law: Marcus Hunter and Christopher Hunter all of
Philadelphia, PA. Two uncles: Ulysses Bacon of Claxton, GA and Earl S. Bacon of New Rochelle, NY.
Nephews: Tyrone Jackson, Eriah Geiger (USAF), Shemiah Geiger, Blake Jones, Jr., Eric Jones all of
Atlanta, GA. Nicolas Bacon of Claxton. Nieces: Kim Jackson of Savannah, GA, LaTrenda McClain
and Nachelle Bacon of Claxton, GA, Akilah Johnson, Erica and Erin Jones all of Atlanta, GA. She
leaves four great-nephews and special friends: Roxelle and John Smith of Jacksonville, FL, and a host
of students and colleagues at Liberty Elementary School, as well as her medical caretakers.

GOD picks a Flower
Sometimes God picks a flower thats still in full bloom,
Sometimes the flower that is chosen, we feel Hes picked too soon.
Were at peace knowing; in Gods heavenly garden.
He has placed the ones we treasure.
