Dr. Lorenzo P. McNeal, Pastor
Clyde McClennon was born on October 13, 1909 in Daisy, Georgia,
to the late John McClennon and Amanda Wilkerson-McClennon. He
departed this life on April 29, 2011 at the Green Brook Manor in
Greenbrook, New Jersey, after a short illness.
Clyde joined the Historic Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church
at an early age and served as a faithful deacon for several years, until
moving to Piscataway, New Jersey in January 1999.
He married the late Freddie Mae Smith-McClennon, and to this
union nine children were born.
He was employed by the Seaboard Railroad Company, where he
returned in 1974. He also enjoyed farming and enjoyed many other
outdoor activities. He was a member of The Saint Joseph Masonic
Lodge #76, in Claxton, Georgia.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Freddie Mae McClennon,
and five children, Mary Louise, Mary, Margie, Clyde Jr., and Joyce
Holland. Two grandsons, Randy and Rickey Williams, and one great
granddaughter, Amanda Hollaway. One son-in-law Eldred Williams.
Six sisters. Zona, Zola, Oriole, Willie Mae, Mammie, Ada and Edna
Mae. Three brothers, Beacher Chester and Allen (Dollar Bill).
He leaves to cherish many fond memories: four daughters, Betty
Williams and Ree Dell M. Young (John) of Claxton, Georgia; Delores
Jones Piscataway, New Jersey; Joann (James) Hollaway, Newark, New
Jersey. Two sons-in-law: James Hollaway of Newark, New Jersey and
Walter Holland of Belleville, Georgia. One sister-in-law, Lucille
Wilkerson; one great aunt Ruby Brodnax. Thirteen grandchildren,
twenty-three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two special friends of the family, JC
Sally and John Burch, and friends at The Historic Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church, and Calvary Baptist Church, Plainfield, New Jersey.
