OBITUARY
George B. Grant (Sonny) was bom on June 20,1936, in Chatham County,
Georgia to the late Florrie Wilkerson and Gordon Lovett.
A life long resident of Evans Coimty. Graduate of Evans Coimty High
School. He was employed with the Claxton Bakery Inc. as Shipping Manager for
56 years.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the formal Carolyn Stewart. To this
union three children were bom.
He joined Thomas Grove A. M. E. Church in 1960. Where he served as
Stewart and later a Tmstee until his death. He was the first appointed Black
Evans County Board of Education member. He served as an Honorary Evans
County Deputy Sheriff imtil his death. An Amateur Radio operator and an
active member of the Gladiator, Inc.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his loving wife, Mrs. Carolyn
Grant; three daughters. Minister Kim (Rev. Dr. Bobby) Warren, of Haddock,
GA; Jeannine (Ivory) Bacon, of Decatur, GA; and Rosalind (Rev. Bernard) Ivey
of Claxton, GA. Two adopted children Arthur (Stephanie) Fennell of Voorhees,
NJ; and Lydia Rangel of Claxton, GA, Three sister, Vondell McKenize of Los
Banes, CA; Betty Doe of Jacksonville, FL; and Karen Lovett of Statesboro, GA.
Three brothers , Louis Wilkerson and Willie L. Lovett who proceeded him in
death; Colonel Lovett of Reston, VA. A dear fnend who was just like a sister,
Dollie (James) Mozingo of Goldsboro, NC. Four granddaughters and seven great
grandchildren. And a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and
friends.
