Deacon William Henry Bacon was born on September 20, 1942. He departed this
life on February 14, 2008 at Evans Memorial Hospital. Deacon Bacon was born to
the late Mr. William and Mrs. Annie Lee Bacon. This union produced four children,
of which William was the first born.
William was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Tattnall County Industrial
High School. After graduation from high school, William enrolled in Savannah
Technical School and obtained a degree in brick masonry. William was an avid read-
er and a man of great integrity and wisdom.
At an early age, William joined Green Cypress Missionary Baptist Church where
he worshipped regularly until he moved away to attend school and later seek employ-
ment. After he moved to Decatur, Georgia, he became a member of Mt. Gerizim
Church of God and Holiness where he served faithfully as a deacon until he moved
back home and rejoined Green Cypress.
Deacon William Bacon leaves to mourn his death, a loving and devoted family:
one son, Mr. Dwight Bacon, Claxton, Georgia; two sisters: Ms. Minnie Lee Roberts,
New York and Ms. Glenda Cooley, Claxton, Georgia; two brothers; Mr. John
Winton Bacon (Elaine) and Mr. Eugene Bacon, both of Claxton, Georgia. He also
leaves to mourn one grandson, Mr. Rodrekis Brown of Statesboro, Georgia.

Dont grieve for me, for now Im free
Im following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fdl it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My lifes been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Dont lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
1 am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
1 am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
(Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!)
